World Soil Day was celebrated at ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar on 5th December, 2023. Farmers associated with ICAR-IIWM and students from two different schools viz. Saraswati Shisu Mandir and Vivekanand Shiksa Sansthan, Bhubaneswar and total 150 participants including 20 farmers and 13 students attended this program. Dr. A. Sarangi, Director, ICAR-IIWM welcomed the participants and highlighted the significant achievements of the Institute on agricultural water management. Dr. K.K. Bandyopadhyay, Principal Scientist talked about the significance of World Soil Day. Dr. S.K. Pattanaik, RAC Member and Former Professor and Head, Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, College of Agriculture, OUAT, Bhubaneswar was the chief guest on this occasion. He delivered a talk on the world soil day theme “Soil and Water-a source of lifeâ€.A farmers-scientists interaction meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. A. Sarangi, Director, ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar. Besides this, debate and painting competitions were held among the students on the World Soil Day theme. The progressive farmers were felicitated and the students who won prizes in different competitions were provided with certificates on this occasion. The meeting ended with vote of thanks to the chief guest and all the participants.
